Random Questions for the Audience
I plan on blogging about my thoughts on the top ten must-read books for youth ministry in the near future. But before I do, I was wondering if anyone reading has a favorite book or two to add to my pile? Here are the criteria:
- It must be an encouraging book – How did it strengthen you in your ministry? Or in your Spiritual walk?
- It must teach you something – What did it teach you about ministry, Spirituality, or even yourself?
- It must have helped you grow – Either as a Youth Worker or as a Christian.
There you have it. Comment away! And who knows, if there are enough, they might make up their own post!
Better Safe than Sued
This book isn’t the most spiritually transforming book I have ever read, but it is the one that helped me a great deal in ministry. It did a great job with laying out what were the responsibilities and liabilities that we had as a ministry. It also has sample permission and medical release forms. It didn’t change me life, but the information contained in it is stuff I couldn’t find anywhere else.
I Am Not But I Know I Am by Louie Giglio
Probably one of the single most important lessons I learned in youth ministry (and in life to be honest) is that I don’t have to be everything to everyone. This book is based on a message which he probably did at other places, but I heard at the National Youth Workers Convention way back in 2002.
