Tuesday Night Recap: September 6, 2011

Lesson Title: Prophet, Priest & King: Prophet

Set List: Your Grace is Enough (Maher), Shout to the Lord (Zschech), Empty Me (Camp)

Scripture Used: Deuteronomy 18.18; Ephesians 4.11; 1 Corinthians 12.1-12

Evening in a Sentence: Jesus was a prophet – He was THE Prophet – so how does this affect us today?

What Worked: The entire teaching element seemed to go over very well tonight. The amount of time I used was solid, there was a lot of genuine engagement from students, and many great questions were asked. (My favorite was one student’s question of why God still loves Israel after all they did to Him). Autumn did a great job of leading us in worship, and the LIFE groups (separated by junior/senior high and genders) seemed to get off to a great start this year. Our leaders were (for the most part) on time and engaged fully, and provided valuable feedback. Skip did an excellent job of getting dinner set up and served. And we experienced a surge in our attendance with school being back in session and Awana starting back up tonight.

What Needs Work: Technology was a bit of a problem tonight. We got a late start which led to some glitches, and the embedded videos did not work in PowerPoint. We have had better engagement in music. With other things going on in the church tonight (the building project meeting) I got a little late start so I was adjusting times all evening long. I do need to give a clearer time slot for our LIFE Groups so our leaders do not feel rushed at the end.

Summary: Tonight was a great evening, especially for a first night back. There are some things we can tweak next week, but overall, I left very encouraged about one80 tonight.
