WNL Debrief: September 1, 2010

I haven’t done one of these in a while, and I find as we start a new year that I miss sharing about our experiences on

Set List: Your Grace is Enough (Matt Maher), Awesome is the Lord Most High (Chris Tomlin), The Solid Rock (Charlie Hall arrangement), Refuge (In Conclusion) (The OC Supertones).

Prepwork For the Evening: Prayed over the evening, planned lesson, prepared music, assembled EasyWorship schedule, advertised with students.

Lesson Topic: Storyline: A few stories to share

What We Did: Using a few BluefishTV STORIES videos, we looked at a few people’s stories about their own lives, and where God fit (or didn’t fit) in their lives.

Scripture Used: None specifically, though a few were quoted off the top of my head.

Positives From the Evening: I could hear loud, confident singing for the first time in a while to start the evening! There were 5 first-time students (3 of which were incoming 7th graders) this week, and most of them interacted with us and seemed to really get into where we were going for the evening. The videos and the music were well-received by the students, and we have a full sheet of prayer requests (another item we haven’t seen in a long time).

Negatives From the Evening: The air conditioning was not working well at all, so it was quite warm in the room. There are a couple of girls who lost the battle to not talk during our singing portion of the evening. 4 students left pretty early, one of which showed back up at the church about an hour after I left for the night.

Results From the Evening: It was a great first night for our new students, and for me as well. I think that there is some genuine excitement for our theme of Storyline for the year, and we will have a lot of opportunities to explore what students’ stories are in relation to the Scripture that we are studying.

Student Involvement: One of our new students ran EasyWorship, and students helped figure out what quotes we are putting on the wall as signposts along our storyline this year.

Next Week: Off-site to serve at the Spartansburg Fair (hopefully)
