Are Youth Ministries Creating Egocentric Teens?
Here’s a random thought that was running through my head this week. In the whole of social netwoking (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc.), are student ministries truly utilizing those platforms as tools to minister effectively to teenagers? Or are we creating (encouraging) egocentric behavior in our teens? Are we encouraging the idea of broadcasting every detail of life to the point where they lose sight of the rest of humanity?
Are we helping them to become so focused on their own life that they cannot focus on the hearts, the pain and suffering of anyone else?
Are we ministering to them or helping them to grow their pride and ego?
