Busy Day

Take a Break and RecapWhew. Sunday was an insane day for me. Here’s a rundown:

9:45am: Sunday School – Check-in with teens, announcements and guest missionaries sharing about their ministry together. One (Pastor Nelson) only speaks Portuguese, so his partner (Ken Fitch) translated for us.

11:00am: Church Service – Got to play around and be creative as I ran EasyWorship for the service. Things went pretty smoothly, save for a couple songs that were input… oddly. Just need to remember to change those around next time. Ran ’til around12:30pm

12:30pm: Lunch with some of the missionaries – Yes, it is our annual Missions Conference (which is where our missionaries in Sunday School came from). Quick lunch because I had to go home and get changed for…

1:15pm: Meet to leave for ropes course – Today we took our Leadership Team and our Student Leadership Team to Wesley Woods’ ropes course in order to allow them to work together. The hope was to grow together as teams, and to learn to trust each other.

2pm: Ropes Course – We had a really good day out at the Ropes Course. There was a bit of a rougher start, but as the day wore on, we really got to see some genuine teamwork between teens and adults. We even bore witness to one teen who has been wrestling with pride issues lately humbled during our last course element. We were only supposed to be there until 4pm…

4:45pm (approx.): Depart for home – On the way home, that student who was humbled shared about his experience. And we talked nearly the entire way home about that and other issues that have been weighing on him lately. He wants to continue the conversation Monday…

5:45pm: Dinner with our Post-High School group – Had some good Subway to go along with even better conversation about relationships, jobs, and growing in our faith. For the second week in a row, our post HS-ers left really encouraged. And last week they had exceptional weeks as a result.

7:30pm: Daddy Time – Playing with Abby, talking with Kelly about the day (she was there for all of it but the Post HS group time), and giving Abby and Toby a bath.

8:40pm: Football time – Time to start the decompression process from a loooong day…

So yes, a long day, but a great day in my book. Now Monday comes, and with it one of our seniors who is job shadowing me for two days. Good times coming!
