Wednesday Night Live Preview
Working ahead for WNL, and I have a germ of an idea for the first Wednesday in January.
Spam.
I want to take Spam as an under-respected food item, yet full of good items (providing there are any), look at it’s resilience, it’s ability to be used in almost any dish that calls for a meat product, and compare it to the church. All to spark discussion. A lot of our teens take the church for granted (much like we take Spam for granted), confine it to one small part of their life (much like we do to Spam in our pantries, and do not allow it to reach its full potential in their lives.
It is in progress, and one of the items I would like to include is Spam dishes prepared by our students (on-site, not prepared and transported). I am not anticipating a lot of involvement in their planning (I have done this type of activity before, and the turn-out was not quite stellar). So I want to have some recipes on hand.
You got any recipes for Spam?
Or any ideas of directions to guide discussion that I have not presented?
