One thing that I have long strove for in my personal ministry practices has been building strong, lasting relationships with students. In fact, I am still in contact with half of the students who were under my care from my first youth ministry internship. It does help that there were only 4 students there, but it is always fun to use that whole “half ploy.”
But back to the matter at hand. I have been attempting to start up a relationship with one of our stronger teens for weeks, but his schedule has made it seem next to impossible. But today, one of his parents asked to speak with me about him, and filled me in a little bit about what has been going on in his life. Right now he needs someone to listen, and perhaps some solid counsel. It truly was a God moment. I have been seeking to start something up with this student, and here God has given me an incredible opportunity to get together with him. The only part left is to talk to him tomorrow and set up a time for lunch or dinner over the weekend.
